Ranji H. Nagaswami, CFA
Ranji is Chief Executive Officer of Hirtle Callaghan, our acting Chief Strategist, a member of the Investment Strategy Committee and the Chair of the Investment Policy Committee. She has 30 years of investment and executive management experience in both the private and public sector. She most recently served as Operating Partner and Senior Advisor at Corsair Capital, a leading global private equity firm investing in the financial services industry and prior to that worked at Bridgewater Associates, the global macro hedge fund and risk-parity strategy pioneer.
From 2010 through to 2012, she served as Chief Investment Advisor to the administration of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, City of New York for the City’s pension/retirement systems. Prior to joining the public sector, Ranji was Chief Investment Officer within the Blend Strategies team of AllianceBernstein L.P. She served from 2004 to 2008 as Chief Investment Officer of AllianceBernstein Investments, the group’s retail/mutual fund division. From 2001 until 2004, Ranji was a senior portfolio manager of the Bernstein U.S. Value Equities team and a member of the US Value Equities Investment Policy Group. She joined Sanford C. Bernstein in 1999. From 1986 to 1999, Ranji worked at UBS Asset Management and its predecessor organizations where her last role was Managing Director and Co-Head of U.S. Fixed Income.
Ranji is a Member of the CFA Institute’s Advisory Council and the UAW VEBA Medical Benefits Trust Investment Advisory Council. She is a Henry Crown Fellow and founder of the Finance Leaders Fellowship program at the Aspen Institute. She was previously a member of the Yale University Investment Committee, the Yale School of Management Advisory Board, Visiting Executive Fellow at the Yale School of Management’s International Center for Finance, Trustee and Chair of the Investment Committee at the Wallace Foundation, Trustee and member of the Investment Committee of Greenwich Academy, as well as a member of the Board of Directors at the Covenant House of New York and the North American Council of Ashoka, a global fellowship of social entrepreneurs.
Ranji earned a Bachelor of Commerce from Bombay University in India and an MBA from the Yale School of Management. She is a CFA charter holder.
